Background and definitions

Quokka Courier Inc. (Quokka) is a company that strives for excellence, and that includes our relationships with every client, every supplier and every employee. As part of this endeavour we are fully committed to ensure the privacy of individuals and protecting the personal information collected and used.

Our Privacy Policy reflects this commitment, however it is very important that each of our stakeholders review it regularly as it may be subject to change from time to time without prior notice as a result of changes in regulations and/or processes.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, “personal information” means information about an identifiable individual but does not include a business title or contact information when used to contact an individual in their business capacity or information that could not identify an individual.

  1. Collection and use of personal information

Quokka collects and uses information from our customers, suppliers and/or employees to provide all our stakeholders with a compliant service that allows them to reduce concerns. The types of information collected, and how it is used or managed, is shown below:

When a customer ask for a service request (the pick-up and delivery of items) we require certain information, including personal information, in order to be able to complete the request as well as to ensure proper payment for the service provided. The information requested can be described as:

  • From the requestor: Name, phone number, e-mail and/or credit card information. As well banking, financial, proof of identity and address, and signature information may be required when a requestor would like to set-up a line of credit with Quokka
  • Name, phone number and address of the person at the pick-up site
  • Name, phone number and address of the person at the delivery site

It’s important to note that the information requested, including personal information may also be used to:

  • Assist any law enforcement agency in their due process and responsibility
  • Meet any requirement by law
  • To ensure proper account management is provided, including invoicing
  • To communicate our customers of new or current services that can be provided
  1. Knowledge and consent

Quokka collects personal information about customers, suppliers and/or employees only when they have voluntarily provided it; this consent may be withdrawn at any time, subject to legal or contractual obligations, however it is possible that such withdrawal may affect Quokka’s ability to complete some deliveries in their course of normal business.

  1. Disclosure of information, including personal information

Unless otherwise stated, personal information will not be shared by Quokka with third parties without the information owner’s consent. In all cases where consent is given, Quokka will not authorize third parties to keep, disclose or use the personal information for any use other than the specific service(s) required to fulfill Quokka’s obligations with their customers.

As noted previously, Quokka reserves the right to disclose personal information if it is requested by local, provincial and federal officials in their investigations, or as part of a response to a court order, subpoena, or other regulation as required by law.

  1. Security of information

Quokka will take all reasonable care and precautions to protect the personal information collected from our customers, suppliers and/or employees from unauthorized access and/or loss.

  • Access to personal information is limited to authorized individuals within the organization.
  • Customers and/or employees who use our website and mobile applications will be requested to maintain private the passwords that provide access to our systems (e.g. customer accounts).

Due to the nature of our industry, Quokka will strive to train its drivers on security protocols and the release of personal information.

  1. Cookies

Our on-line services do not use cookies or any other method to collect personal data about visitors; only generic data such as number of clicks, area of origin, etc. is collected. If our customers log into our website or mobile services, the system will collect data in the form of account and password authentication, and log events such as login, and service request information and submit it to a secure server.
